This was a great summary of viewpoints gleaned from a lifetime of chasing languages. Wish it had been longer. Any chance that in the future we can also hear about what languages your guests speak and at what level they estimate their abilities to be? When learning about a person's views on language learning, I always find it fascinating to compare it with their own personal experiences, whether successful or not. Thanks also for typing out the text-- you're creating a tremendously insightful body of work. Wow! This was a great summary of viewpoints gleaned from a lifetime of chasing languages. I like your idea about sharing the language ability of my guests; it helps add relevance to their stories and encourages others to learn languages to their level. As far as I know, Dr. Kelm is fluent and fully literate in Portuguese and Spanish, though he states stronger abilities in the former language. He is learning Chinese and Japanese as well. I am glad you find the transcripts useful; they take a lot of work but I think they are an essential component for those using my site as an English learning tool in and of itself. Thank you!
