Master Japanese: Self-Guided Immersion for the Passionate Language Learner

Master Japanese: Self-Guided Immersion for the Passionate Language Learner shares all the tips, tools, and tech I have learned over the last decade learning and teaching languages, living and working around the world, meeting thousands of language learners, and interviewing world renowned language experts, native speakers, and researchers.

The guide shows you exactly how to learn Nihongo in the quickest, cheapest and most enjoyable way possible, drawing on the latest linguistic research, breakthroughs in brain science, advances in consumer technology and media distribution, and my first-hand experience on what works and what doesn’t.

Why You Need Master Japanese

Understand, Speak, Read & Write Japanese Like a Ninja (or at least really, really well)

Master Japanese provides practical, step-by-step tips on how to learn all four components of Japanese: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Unlike traditional approaches which are as ineffective as they are painful, Master Japanese shows you the fast, fun, and natural way to learn Japanese. In record time, you will be able to understand anime, read manga, live and work in Japan, and strike up a conversation with that hotty sitting next to you…

Learn How to Learn the Fun and Effective Way

Learning Japanese can be intimidating in the beginning. You constantly hear how difficult it is, how different it is from English, and how many kanji you have to memorize. Fortunately, Japanese isn’t nearly as hard as you might imagine if you go about it in the way detailed in Master Japanese. Not only will you make progress more quickly than poor saps wasting away in college classes, unlike them, you will actually enjoy the process.

Mad Japanese Skillz: The Perfect Christmas Gift

Looking for that special little something for the Japanophile, language learner, anime addict, ninja trainee, or international spy in your life? Give them what they’ve always wanted and never achieved: the ability to actually understand and speak Japanese.

  1. oooOOOooo This looks very tempting, and I'm sure it will be great coming from you. I'll be back…

"The bonus interviews will be emailed to you on January 1, 2010. What a great way to start the New Year!"
    You mean 2011.

This is great. Where would one sign up?

  4. alex says:

Is your ebook helpful for learning Chinese?

    • John Fotheringham says:

Yes, much of the guide is relevant to learning ANY language, and the tips about learning Chinese characters will definitely cross over. Or you can just wait until I release the next guide, "Master Chinese", by March or April if all goes well…

  5. John, I have a concern.. so I already bought the E-book. I'm curious, though, do I have repurchase the $79 package to get access to the interviews? :(

Also, you might want to fix where you said "Learn the words migi (右・みぎ, “left”) and hidari (左・ひだり, “left”) while doing the hokey pokey" on page 36 since you were trying to make a point about knowing the difference between left and right if my assumption is correct. :)

    • John Fotheringham says:

As you'll see in the updated offer above, I've decided to give both the video tutorials AND the interviews as a free bonus to those who buy the book before midnight New Year's Eve. So yes, you will get the interviews without having to buy another package. : )

And thank you very much for catching the typo! I will fix it now.

  8. It’s great to see more of this material coming out, especially at the professional level. There are not enough resources on how to study languages, I think.

How do you think this ebook will apply to students taking language courses at university? Their approach to study is somewhat regimented by their institution.
